Canon 5D MkIII - Oz Stock - $3649 at some JBHifi stores in Sydney and Perth

At least some of JB Hifi's Sydney stores are pricematching a sale that Leederville Camera (Perth) has on the Canon 5D Mk3 camera - Leederville has them on pre-order for $3599.

JB HiFi will sell Australian stock (body only) for $3649 (a price differential well less than the cost of a plane fare to Perth) - the Chatswood Sydney and Paddington stores are doing so today - down from the list price of $4199.

JB in Macquarie Centre apparently may not be price matching at this point in time.

So if you have been holding off hoping the price will come down, now is your chance. They probably don't have heaps of stock in store, so those who snooze are likely to miss out ;-)

Well I am not surprised that there are price cuts starting to appear. I fully intend to buy one, but am not paying the $4200 asking price from the retail stores.
Yes, I understand that stores have to make a profit, but like everything in life it's about competition, and the store that gives me the right price will also be able to sell me lenses and other accessories down the track.
I expect to see these cameras under $3500 by the end of June.

I also think the prices will start to drop soon.
One of the grey importers is now listing the 5D3 body at under $3400 delivered.
I reckon it will get closer to $3K in a couple of months.

The same little birdy that told me about the price drop within a month says local prices will hoover around $3500 or just under until closer to the end of the year for local stock. :)

I'm going to get my $355 price drop when going to Bali end of May & claim back GST. 30 days which is plenty of time to practice for a wedding. Will still have 5D & 1DmkIII if I don't feel comfortable with it or if there are issues.
