Hi all
I am basically a newbie to DSLR photography. I bought a Canon 550D with the kit 18-55 lens and a Metz flash a few months ago, and I have already really LOVED using it - the photos are incredible compared to my old compact! Being able to bounce a flash off a ceiling or wall makes an infinite difference to indoor shots of people, and friends often comment on how good it is not having their retinas burnt out by a direct flash.
At the moment, my main uses for the camera are taking photos of people at social functions (e.g. friend's parties, family events, etc) and also landscape pictures.
I'm looking forward to making the most of the camera by learning tips and techniques from reading the forums, and also just seeing lots of excellent photos. Thanks for reading! :)
