Old photographer- but a forums virgin!

Hi, my name is Sam, living in Werombi, south western Sydney, have been taking photos on and off for the past 30 years. Recently decided to explore this hobby/passion/addiction in a more in depth way. What I'm really not sure about is how to do this bit. hope it works.
Using Canon EOS 60D + 18-55 and 55-250mm entry level lenses. I look forward to getting involved.

Jeez, I spent the first 40 years of my life in Ingleburn. That was south western Sydney, and Werombi was country side. Bloody progress!
Anyway, forums, like photographer take a little time to learn. You now know how to post a thread, so if you need help with anything about how to do things, just ask a question in site matters.
The rest just comes with getting involved (and time to look around).

Looks like you joined some time ago. "13 sept 2011" Welcome to the mad mad world of ausphotography. it will be great to see some of your pictures, and hopefully some old world advice to some of us newer to the game. Please don't be reluctant to have a say because forums are new to you. We were all there once ourselves. And some old world advice might bring us back to realality.

As for forums etc.

the FORUMS are the area of the site where we discuss things, post photos for critique etc. Each Forum has a name, which is descriptive and is where people should put discussions about that subject. The Introductions forum for example is for new member introductions.

THREADS are the discussion under a heading, so this introduction of yours and all the replies in it, is a thread, called "Old photographer- but a forums virgin!".

POSTS are each individual comment in a thread, so this comment, by me, is a post.

It's basically a top down method of naming the parts of a discussion. A post is made in a thread, and a thread is started in a forum

If you get stuck or don't understand something, just ask.
