Maybe you have not got malwarebytes set to website blocking.

You might be right. I usually just run scans every now and then.

Didn't take long to narrow it down to my house, but the street view has a google copyright symbol on it, and the date on the copyright is out. It says 2011, but the car in the driveway I got rid of in very early 2010.

Its the same time and day the Google is.. Only one problem you have to cross the road to find our house..
Its an old image, its a couple of years since we have had brown instead of green grass.

I just Googled my address and this time the front of the house came up.
Exact same image dated December 2009, just before the Summer Rains started probably
Just looked up my 2009 Diary we got 189 mm of rain from 21st-31st December that year.

if you use the buttons you can drive right along the street and you can swap sides of road with the compass
and to change from ariel view just hit the box on right and it changes from ariel to street
cheers macca

That's amazing, but I only get an aerial image.

On the scroll bar on the left of the aerial image is a zoom slider. At the top of the zoom slider is a logo of a person.
Click on and drag that icon to the road.
Unless you're somewhere obscure that hasn't been driven yet by the google cars, you should have a street view come up.
At first the aerial view is in the top corner, but can be resized

I tried my Mum's address, which is in the country in New Zealand, and on a lane that as far as I know didn't even have a name when I was growing up. It went straight there and even gave me a street view which surprised me.

But I got more or less identical results typing it into Google Earth, maybe a little slower and at lower resolution.

The pictures they're using are old! The front of my place looks totally different now.

For much more recent (independant from google) aerial views try this one - www.nearmap.com

It's certainly faster for me than google maps but, as for some others, it gives the house over the road yet when I type that address in, it indicates location not found - interesting watching the process too. Thanks for sharing this.

If you like hi-res versions, go to the nearmap website and look up your address.
Only aerial views, but they're redone every month or so, and you can scroll the slider bar along the top of the page and watch how your place has changed over time.
You have to either become a free member, or sign in as a non-commercial guest the first time you go there, but it's all free for personal use, and much much higher resolution, but primarily only does major areas, so won't be likely to have country towns, and none of the bush, outback, National Parks, etc generally.

As Rick said, "better searching than Google Street view."
Then when you got where you want, click on Google at bottom left of screen and the same location will open in Google for their options.

Is there a separate Google "Street View" site, or is this referring to using Street View in Google Maps?

From my quick play, searching Google Maps directly appears to be better than searching through showmystreet, but it depends on where and what you are searching for (eg au vs o/s). (Google Maps will often require an extra mouse click or two...)

It's an interesting and fun app though...

Cheers.
