All,
The Wings over Illawarra Air Show is being held at Albion Park (on the way to Wollongong) on Sunday, 6 May, 2012.
Information and onine booking is available at http://woi.org.au.
I'm heading down there anyway and will have a camera and the big lenses on me, but it could also be a good opportunity for an AP meetup.
This is a good airshow, I plan on being there. :)

Good to hear; we'll see you there.
It'll be a day of dreagging out the long lenses.
If you have the luxury of having more than one. ;) I'll be using the Bigma for the aerial stuff, wide angle & Tammy 17-50 for the static displays (aircraft & cars). Here's hoping the weather is kind on the day.

I'd be pretty keen on going as I just live out the back of dapto, of course providing the Nikon D800 shows before then lol,
If I remember correctly last years show was low cloud all day, so yeh hopfully it wont be a prob this year. :th3:
There is some good place that are free to get a good shot. Crome Rd BMX track is one and on Tongarra Rd northern end of run way.

Looks good. I hope to be able to make it, if nothing crops up.
Mongo would have been prepared to crawl out of his cave for this one but unfortunately, he will be molesting Queensland that week. Hope you guys have a great time.

I won't be able to make it. It is a sad day when social matters interfere with photography.

I'm bringing the super-tele. There's no front-mounted filter for that!

Parking just about anywhere is the pits; we're taking a train directly to Albion Park.

We met up with AmPhot at the show.
As with air shows in general, this one was enjoyable, and there was some spectacular flying and rich aviation history on display.
Also typical of air shows, the bright, glary conditions weren't ideal for photography. I snapp quite a few images, but I wasn't heading there expecting to land some stunners; it's best enjoyed with one's own eyes, really. I might get two or three images out of it.
as always the sun sets in the wrong direction at this event... ohwell.
:confused013
still a great event tho. no fa18 this year.

Photographically for me it was a dud of an event. I don't normally shoot in daylight anyway. :-)
It was still fun to see the action with my own eyes.
