thanks for posting that:)
I am interested in the 3200 and 6400 range especially for wedding work, and PJ work too. Looks like a very good improvement over the 5D2 and on par with a D3, maybe not so a D3s
Yeah! I want one! Only one small problem. I'd better start saving.

I'm not convinced, you'll have to send it to me so I can test it out on the things I shoot. :D

I reckon that 12 800 matches the 550D at 3200... great performance

Lucky you!!!
Is it possible to post some pictures where more of the frame is in focus?
ie, with a closed down lens setting so we can see a bit more than just one little bit that is in focus?
It seems that every test shot I've seen with the 5D3 has a blurry background.
I'm salivating over getting one, but it's hard to convince she who must be obeyed right now, but in a couple of months.................
Where did you get it from?
They sure got their stock quickly!

Thanks for posting, interesting to see. Looks very useable at 3200 & 6400.

thanks for posting these - very encouraging :)
I guess it's a bit difficult to comment on direct comparison of these particular images though since you seem to have reduced the aperture to increase the iso at the same exposure? - I was keen to see what was going to happen with the fringing you can see at iso200 vs iso 12800 (the reported 2 stops better performance than 5dmkII which i push to 3200 at weddings) I hope I got to play with one myself soon!!!
Wow. The low light high ISO capability would probably be the only thing that would make me even think of upgrading.

Thank you.
Much appreciated

I used to push my 5D2 to ISO 1600 at low light and get decent shots. Now with my 5D3 (since last Friday.... :) ) I push to 6400 and get the same sort of IQ.... :)

FWIW, I'm delighted with my 5dmk3 - the high iso performance is IMHO hugely improved. I'd suggest that from a gut feeling the quality of the file shot on 5dmk2 @ 400iso is about the same as one shot on the 5dmk3 @3200 - big step forward.
I did some comparative tests with my 5D3 (and the 5D2 that hasn't been sold yet). Same shots at various ISO values.
They are all in this set n Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/vk2gwk/sets/72157629370923912/)....
The 5D3 is much better at high ISO and does not show "banding" like the 5D2.

I never shoot over 800 on my 50D as the noise control on the 50D is well known to be poor and I have longed for a 5D2 and now I hurt with the want fora 5D3 - one day. Very interesting post. thanks
