Hey everyone. Seems like I have to say hello in this forum before I can do stuff, so here it is. I love photography, but after a lifetime (48 years - am I too old to change?) of film cameras and mainly auto settings, I now have a second hand digital and am trying to grasp what all the dials and knobs mean on my camera. Its scarey stuff. But since I have enrolled in a two year Dip Photog I thought I might learn! I also have to get over my fear and scorn of photo editing programs... I want to learn to capture 'the decisive moment' and take good photos that mean something. I just want to photograph better...

Welcome to AP. 48 is not to old. My 75 year old mother shoots digital and edits with Photoshop. Your scorn is self imposed and if you want to move forward, you have to get past the limitations you are applying to yourself, cause they will hold you back, nothing else.
